NRA Instructor Certification Pathway

Before becoming an NRA Instructor, you must first complete the student-level course in your chosen discipline. Once completed, you can enroll in one of our instructor-level training programs.

Step 1: NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)

🔹 6-hour course that teaches instructional techniques and classroom management
🔹 Required for all new NRA Instructors
🔹 Can be taken anytime or combined with an NRA Discipline

Step 2: Choose Your NRA Instructor Discipline

After completing BIT and the student-level course, choose from:

🔹 Handgun Instructor (8-hour) – Qualifies you to apply as a North Carolina Concealed Carry Instructor
🔹 Rifle Instructor (16-hour) – Train others in precision rifle fundamentals
🔹 Inside the Home Protection (8-hour) – Teach defensive strategies for home defense
🔹 Outside the Home Protection (8-hour) – Prepare students for real-world defensive scenarios
