Teach With Structure. Lead With Responsibility.

If you carry a pistol for protection, you understand the responsibility that comes with it.

Becoming an NRA Pistol Instructor means stepping forward to guide others — safely, lawfully, and professionally. It is not simply about shooting well. It is about teaching others how to build competence the right way.

For those seeking to become a North Carolina State Certified Concealed Carry Instructor, this certification is the first step. The NRA Pistol Instructor rating is required before applying for NC DOJ certification.

At Trace Armory Group, we hold instructor candidates to a clear, professional standard:

Calm. Measured. Accountable.

Location

Prerequisites

Instructor candidates must already possess safe firearm handling and foundational shooting skills.

To attend this course, candidates must:

  • Complete a pre-course questionnaire
  • Demonstrate competency during assessment exercises
  • Have attended NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the last 24 months

If BIT has not been completed within the past two years, it must be completed prior to certification.

Instructor certification is performance-based. It is earned through demonstrated ability.
