Teach Fundamentals. Build Responsible Shooters.

Rifle training builds discipline, control, and accountability.

Becoming an NRA Rifle Instructor means stepping into a leadership role — guiding new shooters with clarity, safety, and structured progression. It’s not about flash. It’s about fundamentals taught correctly.

At Trace Armory Group, instructor development reflects our overall standard:

Professional. Measured. Responsible.

Course Overview

This 16-hour course prepares candidates to organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course.

The program is delivered in two parts:

  • Basic Instructor Training (BIT)
  • NRA Rifle discipline-specific instructor training

Both components must be successfully completed for certification.

Location

  • 410 Rives Chapel Church Rd, Siler City, NC 27344 Google Map

Prerequisites

Candidates must already possess safe firearm handling skills and foundational rifle shooting competence.

To attend this course, you must:

  • Complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate competency
  • Have completed NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the last 24 months

If BIT has not been completed within two years, it must be taken prior to certification.

Instructor certification is performance-based. It is earned through demonstrated proficiency and instructional ability.

What You Will Develop

This course builds the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to teach the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting curriculum responsibly.

Training emphasizes:

  • Organizing and delivering structured rifle instruction
  • Demonstrating safe firearm handling and professional communication

Practical teaching exercises are central to the course. Candidates present portions of the curriculum, receive evaluation, and complete the instructor certification examination.

Materials Provided

Each candidate receives the NRA Trainer’s Guide and the required instructor and student course packets needed to conduct the Basic Rifle Shooting course.

Who This Course Is For

This program is appropriate for:

  • Experienced rifle shooters ready to teach responsibly
  • Instructors expanding their NRA certifications

If you believe strong fundamentals build safer communities, this course is a natural next step.

The Trace Armory Group Standard

We emphasize structured progression, clear expectations, and professional accountability.

Our goal is not simply certification. It is developing instructors who represent the standard well — on the range and in the classroom.
