Learn the Format. Test Your Gear. Choose Your Pace.
Run & Gun events are held across the country, but if you have never participated in one, the format can feel intimidating.
You may be wondering what gear you need, how the stages work, whether your current setup will hold up, or if you are physically fit enough to complete the event.
You do not need to be a runner.
If you can comfortably walk about a mile, you have the basic physical ability needed to participate. From there, you decide how hard you want to push yourself.
Run & Gun describes the format—not the minimum fitness requirement.
What Is a Run & Gun Event?
A Run & Gun combines movement and shooting into one event.
Participants move between multiple shooting stages while carrying the firearms, magazines, and equipment they intend to use. At each stage, they solve a different shooting problem before continuing through the course.
This creates something a normal range session cannot easily reproduce:
- Moving with your equipment
- Managing a rifle and handgun together
- Accessing magazines after physical activity
- Shooting with an elevated heart rate
- Changing positions
- Solving stage-based shooting problems
- Learning what equipment actually works
This event is designed to give you that experience without requiring previous Run & Gun competition experience.
New to Run & Gun?
You do not need to know everything before you show up.
In fact, part of the purpose is figuring out what works.
Bring the equipment you already own and use the event to answer questions like:
- Does my sling work while moving?
- Can I access my magazines easily?
- Is my holster comfortable and secure?
- Do I actually need all this equipment?
- Would a simpler setup work better?
- How does my shooting change after walking or jogging?
You do not need a battle belt, chest rig, or plate carrier.
You can participate with a concealed-carry handgun, a rifle with a sling, and magazines carried in your pockets if that is the equipment you want to evaluate.
The point is not to arrive with the perfect setup.
The point is to find out what works.
Already Train? Put It All Together.
You may already train regularly with your rifle and handgun.
You may shoot well. You may exercise. You may have equipment you trust.
But most training develops those capabilities separately.
Run & Gun gives you a chance to combine them.
You can evaluate how well your current skills and equipment perform when you have to move, manage gear, arrive at a shooting position, solve a stage, and continue through the course.
The challenge is not just shooting.
It is discovering how well everything works together.
Choose Your Pace
The physical challenge is adjustable.
You decide how much exertion you want to add between stages.
Walkers
Walk the course and focus on learning the format, managing your equipment, and completing the shooting stages.
If you can comfortably walk about a mile, this is the place to start.
Joggers
Add moderate physical exertion and see how movement and an elevated heart rate affect your shooting and equipment management.
Runners
Push the physical side harder and evaluate how fatigue affects your accuracy, stage execution, and gear setup.
There is no advantage to choosing a faster group if it does not match the experience you want.
Walk it. Jog it. Run it.
You control the physical difficulty.
What You’ll Experience
- Multiple rifle and handgun shooting stages
- Movement between stages
- Target identification and shot accountability
- Reloads and firearm management
- Shooting after physical exertion
- Standing, kneeling, and supported positions
- Gear access while moving
- Stage planning and problem solving
- Opportunities to evaluate equipment and technique
- After-action review of what worked and what needs improvement
Bring the Gear You Actually Use
This is a gear shakedown—not a gear fashion show.
You can keep your setup simple or bring the equipment you already train with.
Possible setups include:
- Concealed-carry handgun with magazines in pockets
- Rifle or carbine with sling
- Standard belt setup
- Battle belt
- Chest rig
- Plate carrier
- Backpack or other practical magazine-carrying system
Bring what you think will work.
Then find out.

Course Format
The event uses approximately a half-mile loop connecting four shooting stages.
Participants may complete additional laps while the course is open if they want more repetitions or a greater physical challenge.
This is not a traditional firearms class and it is not designed around winning a match.
It is an activity where you can:
- Learn how Run & Gun works
- Test the equipment you already own
- Challenge your current shooting skills
- Control your own physical pace
- Leave knowing what you should improve next
Training Location

You Do Not Have to Be Ready Before You Start
If you are new to Run & Gun, this event gives you a place to learn the format and shake out your equipment.
If you already train, it gives you a chance to combine the skills and equipment you already have into a more demanding challenge.
And if you are concerned about the physical side, remember:
If you can comfortably walk about a mile, you can start with the Walkers and participate at your own pace.
Learn the format. Test your gear. Challenge your skills. Choose your pace.
Replace Luck with Skill.
Be Ready When It Matters.

Great event, enjoyed the stages!
Staff were highly knowledgeable. Training was detailed and structured. Weather was unbearably hot. I'll come back when the temperature drops.
Super fun day, although I've done RnG's before it was great to do one with my wife and get the extra practice and guidance in. Great crew and fun stages even if there wasn't a lot of running.
Great experience
