The North Carolina Concealed Handgun Carry Course from Trace Armory Group is designed to give responsible citizens that foundation.

This is not simply a class built around completing a permit requirement. It combines North Carolina concealed carry instruction with extended live-fire training so you leave with a better understanding of both the legal responsibility and the practical skill involved in carrying a handgun.

More Than a Permit Requirement

A concealed carry permit gives you legal authority to carry within the limits of North Carolina law.

It does not automatically give you judgment, confidence, or handgun proficiency.

Those have to be developed.

Throughout the course, we connect legal instruction, firearm safety, defensive decision-making, and practical handgun skills so you understand not only what the law requires, but also the responsibility you accept when you choose to carry.

What You’ll Learn

During the North Carolina Concealed Carry Course, students will cover:

• North Carolina use-of-force laws and legal requirements
• Deadly-force statutes
• Prohibited carry locations
• Safe handgun handling
• Safe transport and storage
• Avoidance and defensive decision-making
• Accountability when carrying a firearm
• Written legal examination

The objective is not simply to memorize information for a test.

Five Hours of Live-Fire Training

Trace Armory Group extends the range portion of the course to approximately five hours and 200 rounds of structured handgun training, including the required qualification.

During that time, students will work on:

• Safe and efficient handgun presentation
• First-shot accuracy
• Recoil control
• Shot accountability
• Reloads and malfunction response
• Movement and defensive positioning
• Close-, intermediate-, and extended-distance handgun skills
• Measurable drills that identify strengths and areas for improvement

The goal is not simply to complete a shooting qualification.

The additional range time gives you an opportunity to develop greater familiarity with your handgun and begin building the practical skills that responsible carry demands.

• Pen and notebook
• NC Driver’s License or NC ID, or qualifying active-duty military residency documentation
• Handgun with a secure holster that covers the trigger guard
• 200 rounds of handgun ammunition
• Minimum of two magazines for semi-automatic pistols
• Eye protection
• Hearing protection
